Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Yash Chopra's last directorial venture, continues to mint money. The romantic saga has earned Rs.101.26 crore at the domestic box office in 11 days since its release.

The movie, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, released on 2,500 screens on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, on Nov 13.

Made at a budget of Rs.50 crore, the film has surpassed the Rs.100 crore mark in the Indian market, even though it had crossed the milestone figure in terms of worldwide collections within six days of hitting the screens.

Despite mixed reviews from all quarters, it had grossed over Rs.120 crore from all over the world in six days, and at the Indian box office, the movie had managed to get Rs.80.73 crore.

The figures only seem to be on a rise. The buzz for the film was immense, given the fact that it is Chopra's last directorial, a project he took up eight years after helming Veer-Zaara. It has also brought back Shah Rukh in his classic romantic avatar, which his female fans love him for.

Shah Rukh Khan's painfully awkward romance with Katrina Kaif

Shah Rukh Khan's painfully awkward romance with Katrina Kaif
'Im going to kiss you now, and I do not think you would slap me," superstar Shah Rukh Khan says to Katrina Kaif at London's Charing Cross station waiting to catch a train home. Well, ouch. Would you believe that in a magical career spanning over two decades, the man has never kissed a lead actress in any of his films?

He chose to do it in a film that could well be the best role he has ever played but unfortunately with an actress who is 20 years younger than him and the awkwardness showed.

In the first half of the film, played out mostly in flashback, Khan makes his living doing odd jobs in London. He shares a flat with a young Pakistani man and plays the guitar by the roadside for lunch money.

Then he meets Katrina, who plays rich NRI girl Meera in the film, while shovelling snow outside a church and he is instantly smitten. The eternal love story that spans a decade after that is a study in inspired moments quilted with the downright absurd. Shah Rukh has given his career's best performance. His is the shoulder the film rests on, not Katrina's or Anushka's. And he carries the burden well. But he could have had a little help from Katrina, who does nothing to bridge the gap between the awkward and the sublime.

Yash Chopra, the director of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, was bordering on 80 when he started the film. He is the master of old world romances that were full of intrigue, moments of conflict and heady charm. But perhaps he failed gauge the depth of love in the 21st century and in the process trivialized and generalized it to a cringe-worthy 'make-out-break-up' model.

Shah Rukh, who's restrained and mature as he goes through two complex roles, goes to pieces when he's paired with Katrina, one of the loveliest faces in cinema at the moment. He is 47 years old and it shows in the first half as he tries to woo her.
It's commendable that Chopra, despite his age, tries to remodel his traditional heroines from the underplayed sensuous to the modern day 'cool'. Katrina smokes a cigarette outside her own engagement party and the other is a tomboyish, over-excited little thing.

But a series of awkward kisses captured mostly in long shots and covered up with locks of hair falling over the face of the two actors are the only moments of intimacy between Shah Rukh and Katrina.

Chopra belongs to a different era, we understand that. Perceptions about reality have shifted within filmmaking over the years. But 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' has a soul of the 1960s trapped in a body from 2012. Shah Rukh, who keeps both actresses grounded in the film with a remarkable performance, unfortunately comes across as staid and out-of-place in his romance with Katrina.
The rubbing of toes signifying a heavy make-out session leading to sex, does not work in the day and age of gritty, realistic films. You can argue that Yash Chopra's romances are from a different era and that's why they are special.

It could have been more believable had Shah Rukh been paired with someone close to his age, such as Kajol.

But in the end, what you see on screen is about as real as it's going to get. And the tentative kisses and willing acceptance of a fate thrust upon him by Katrina in a juvenile promise to god, just does not make it.

Top 10 link-ups in Bollywood

Top 10 link-ups in Bollywood
Celebrities and link-ups go hand in hand. You're not allowed to hang out (Uday-Parineeti), kiss goodbye (Ness-Nargis), be 'just' friends (Rana-Bips) or simply bond with a co-star (SRK-PC). Check out some recent dating rumours.

Uday Chopra and Parineeti Chopra have been spotted together at various nightspots, sparking rumours that there's something beyond a professional camaraderie.

SRK has been linked (first time in his entire career) to his 'jungli billi' Priyanka Chopra.

Hot Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was snapped with a mystery woman in Singapore.

Nargis Fakhri was linked to Ness Wadia after she was spotted kissing him formal goodbye at Karan Johar's birthday bash.

Bipasha Basu and Rana Daggubati have been romantically linked ever since they worked together in Dum Maaro Dum.

Cricketer Zaheer Khan was seen at a mall in Mumbai with VJ Ramona.

Anushka Sharma's growing camaraderie with Arjun Kapoor has become talk of the town.

Ranbir-Sonakshi might not have acted in a film together, but were seen spending quality time together on a common flight to Singapore on their way to IIFA awards.

Veena Malik's intimate pictures with filmmaker Hemant Madhukar raised many eyebrows.

Salman Khan's ex-flame, Sangeeta Bijlani, who is known to be going through a rough patch with her ex-cricketer husband Mohd Azharuddin, arrived at Avengers screening with Sallu's sister Alvira. Salman was there along with his family and friends.

Shah Rukh Khan's hairstyles over the years

Shah Rukh Khan's hairstyles over the years
King Khan has experimented quite a lot with his tresses!
Let’s track the journey of SRK’s changing hairstyles…

From Baazigar to Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, this young lad entered b-town with hideous front bangs and kept them for a really long time…

And then there was a phase where we saw SRK just kind of getting over the fringe look.
Though one could still spot a bang or two on his forehead, this look was much better than the first one!

In Ashoka, Srk's look was a little too wild and shabby, and the wig was just hideous and plain ugly.

King Khan was probably trying hard get that Johnny Depp like look from Pirates of the Carribean but the outcome was horrible!

Ah, now this was just simple and beautiful. The no gel, no oil, no frills hairdo worked wonders for SRK in Chake De! India.

Cool spikes and curled coiffure, looked like SRK really let his hair down while making this movie. Sad that the movie (RA.One) didn’t do very well.

Now that’s what we call a villain. Shahrukh definitely looked like one in Don 2. And a hot one indeed. Loved the long locks!

Looking forward to King Khan’s soldier style in Jab Tak Hey Jaan. The sweet side-swept spiked hair look is great!

Why Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan is unwelcomed in Pakistan?

Why Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan is unwelcomed in Pakistan?
Why neighbouring country Pakistan is turning hostile towards Bollywood films? After Saif Ali Khan and Salman Khan, now its the turn of superstar Shahrukh Khan whose film might be banned in the neighbouring country. If sources are to be believed Bollywood actor's latest film 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' directed by Yash Chopra might be banned in Pakistan.
Pakistan's censor board might not give clearance to Shahrukh film, which apparently is Yash Chopra's last directorial venture.
"The film may get banned in Pakistan because it involves Shah Rukh Khan in an Army operation in Kashmir. The trailer too has been stopped from being screened on various TV channels in Pakistan. The movie shows SRK as part of a bomb disposal squad in the Indian Army who is up to some serious action in Kashmir, which may be the reason it might be banned," informed a source.

Earlier, Saif's ‘Agent Vinod' and Salman's ‘Ek Tha Tiger' were banned in Pakistan.

Bollywood movies have always been a rage in Pakistan. But with Indian films facing regular ban in Pakistan, it seems Bollywood films have to bade-goodbye to Pakistani film buffs.

Hottest New On-Screen Couple in Bollywood

Hottest New On-Screen Couple in Bollywood
Many actors, old and new, are coming together for the first time in a variety of movies. From Katrina Kaif and Shah Rukh Khan in Jab Tak Hai Jaan to Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, which of these on-screen pairs is your favourite?

Katrina Kaif and Shah Rukh Khan in Jab Tak Hai Jaan: They are one of the hottest pairs of the year. Yet, we do not think they look very good together or have much chemistry. We have to say that individually they look great in the movie. Maybe the movie might change our minds when it releases on November 13.

Huma Qureshi and Kunal Kapoor in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana: Kunal Kapoor is rather bland while Huma Qureshi is a spicy live wire! We don't expect much from Kunal in this romantic comedy but Huma will walk away with accolades once again.

Esha Gupta and Arjun Rampal in Chakravyuh: She is gorgeous, sexy, and not shy of intimate scenes. Ditto for Arjun Rampal. They play a police couple. We think they make a compatible pair and we hope Esha delivers effectively as an actress this time around.

Emraan Hashmi with Neha Dhupia and Sagarika Ghatge in Rush: Emraan Hashmi plays a crime reporter and Sagarika Ghatge is his love interest. She was last seen in Fox which flopped. Neha is seen more at events than in movies. Neither of these pairs is fascinating.

mran Khan and Anushka Sharma in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola: He is cute and sober while she is a firebrand. Vishal Bhardwaj has directed them in this rustic comedy and given them image makeovers. We are really excited to see how Khan has transformed for his character. We expect fireworks between Anushka and Imran.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in Raam Leela: Ranveer Singh has been an actor and a star since Band Baaja Baaraat. Deepika has always been a star and Cocktail cemented her position as a dependable actress. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is bringing the two young and good-looking stars together for the first time in a passionate love story based on Romeo and Juliet. Definitely a pair to watch out for!

Sonakshi Sinha and Ajay Devgn in Son of Sardaar: Sonakshi Sinha looks like a mature woman and has only been part of masala films. She looks good opposite older actors such as Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan, etc. The movie belongs to Ajay and she is playing the rustic belle once again. We are not excited!

Anushka Sharma and Aamir Khan in PeeKay: She is immensely talented and can hold her own opposite anyone. Aamir Khan is a contemporary legend so it will be a delight to see these two in one frame directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Apparently, she will cut her long hair for this movie.

Huma Qureshi and Emraan Hashmi in Ek Thi Daayan: In some ways, this movie was destined to belong to Huma as both Rani Mukerji and Vidya Balan turned it down. Emraan is a dependable actor and has a grip on the horror/supernatural genre. Huma is a reliable actress too and we think this pair will complement each other very well.

Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh in Lootera: Sonakshi Sinha publicly admitted her crush on Ranveer Singh. Her wish came true when they were signed on for Vikramaditya Motwane's period romance Lootera. Ranveer has been versatile in his choices of films and this is the first Sonakshi is playing a serious character and the look suits her. Their chemistry has already been talked about so we are looking forward to seeing them together on-screen.
