Admission to the Correspondence Course of Diploma in Railway Engineering for the academic year 2013-14 :

The Institution organises a Diploma Course in 'Railway Engineering' for the Railwaymen as well as for the outsiders to update their knowledge of Railway Engineering.

Eligibility:

(a) Railway Personnel working as employees of Indian Railways including employees of Konkan Railway, Port Trust Railways, RITES, IRCON, CRIS, CONCOR, DMRC, RLDA, RVNL, MVRC and other Railway PSUs : High School/SSC or equivalent qualification with maths or science and having a minimum of 3 years experience over Railways or having 3-years Diploma in any Engineering discipline recognised by Central/State or Union Territory Government or a Science/ Engineering Graduate or a Graduate having had Maths or Science as one of the subjects in Intermediate/Plus 2 of SSC.

(b) Non-Railway persons: The applicant should be a 3-years Diploma holder in any discipline of Engineering recognised by Central/State or UT Government or a Science/Engineering Graduate or a Graduate having had Maths or Science as one of the subjects in Intermediate/Plus 2 of S.S.C.

Duration : 2 Semesters of six months each

Semester I covers basic knowledge of Railway working in the fields of General Management of Railways, Civil Engineering (Works); Civil Engineering (Track), Civil Engineering ( Bridges), Signal & Telecommunication Engineering; Operational Management, Commercial Management, Stores/Material Management, Personnel Management, Financial Management of Railways & Railway Accidents & Safety measures.

Semester-II covers basic knowledge of Railway working in the field of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and specialized knowledge of Permanent Way Engineering, which includes Track structure, its Maintenance and Modernisation, Works, Bridge Engineering, Survery and construction of Railway Lines, Railway Sidings and Disaster Management.

Recognition & Concessions:

The Ministry of Railways has recognised the Diploma Course and has granted the following concessions/benefits:

For Railway Personnel: The Ministry of Railways has approved the Diploma Course as an additional qualification for promotion to all selection posts for Railway employees in Group C Category.

The prospectus containing the application form along with other details can be obtained from the office of IPWE (India), address given below on payment through Bank Draft of Rs.150/- in favour of IPWE (India) payable at New Delhi along with a self addressed stamped (Rs.15/-) envelop (size 25 cm x 15 cm.) or on cash payment of Rs.100/- personally at our Counters at Rail Bhavan/Baroda House, New Delhi.

State Central Library, Thiruvananthapuram invites applications for six months certificate course in Library and Information Science, 2013.

Eligibility
A pass in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination / or its Equivalent is the minimum required qualification for admission. (Eligibility for higher studies in the case of grading)
 
Number of Seats : Forty One.

 Duration of Course
Total duration of the course is Six months. During the last two months the students will have to undergo training under “Earn While You Learn” scheme and a remuneration of Rs. 900/- per month will be given to them in tune with G.O(Rt)No. 1815/05/H.Edn dated 25/10/05. The Departmental Candidates are not entitled to any remuneration. 

 Mode of Admission
A rank list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the application in the qualifying examination by the committee constituted as per G.O.(MS).221/86/H.Edn. dated 29/08/86. No weightage will be given for higher/additional qualifications.

How to apply
The Prospectus and Application form may be obtained on all working days between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm at free of cost from the State Central Library, Thiruvananthapuram from 27/06/2013 to 27/07/2013 Thiruvananthapuram. The application form can also be downloaded from the website of State Central Library Thiruvananthapuram. The prospectus & Application form may be obtained by post from the Office of the State Librarian, State Central Library, Thiruvananthapuram–33. For this purpose a self addressed stamped envelope should be enclosed with the request.

Admission process for 2nd year engineering course
The procedures for the online seat allotment for second year engineering courses and for first year architecture course for the year 2012-13 have started. Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has kicked off the mock trial of option entry training session for practice.

Rank holder has to select the link "Hands on training practice for option entry (mock operation)" from September 12 to 14. A seat matrix of Diploma CH-2011 has been made available to for practice purpose. 


This practice option entry is to make the rank holders gain confidence and get hands on training for the real option entry which will start as per the notified schedule.

Unique key required to log on to option entry portal will be accepted by the system only after entire document verification process is completed for all the candidates. 


Till such time CET application number has to be used for practice.

IGNOU announces admission for 2013
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced admissions for its January 2013 session.

Aspirants can apply for masters, bachelors, post-graduate diplomas, diplomas, post-graduate certificates and certificate programmes.

"The prospectus and application form are available at IGNOU and all its regional centres. For further information aspirants can log on to website www.ignou.ac.in," a university statement.

The last date for submission of filled application forms is Nov 30. A late fee of Rs.200 will be imposed between Dec 1 and 20.
